The AKC CGC path — CGC, CGCA, and CGCU — plus RocDog therapy-dog prep. Three weeks on the test items, then a testing night.

Puppy class

First manners in a room of other puppies. East side — Penfield and Macedon. Vaccines and a fecal report before the first night.

CGC and therapy dog
6 months+ · 4 weeks · test night
Three weeks on the ten CGC items and RocDog therapy-dog tests; week four is testing. A recent cycle finished with six CGC titles, one CGCU, and seven new RocDog therapy teams.

Watch first
The first session is observation. Katie will not install a cue until she has seen the pattern that actually lives in your house.

A short menu
Not forty-seven behaviors. A handful that hold under distraction, on a Thursday, when you are tired and the dog is not.

Hand it over
If you cannot run the work without her, it is not trained. Every session ends with the handler doing the thing.

Katie Gallagher is a canine behavior specialist with Kate's K-9's in Penfield. For more than thirteen years she has offered in-home private lessons and day training while you're away — for any behavior, any dog breed, and any age. She runs east-side group classes, certifies CGC and RocDog therapy teams with Calm Life Canine, and supports rescue and adoption work across Rochester.
She is fully insured, works Tuesday through Saturday, and takes in-home cases so the follow-through stays real. If the dog needs a veterinary behaviorist, she will say so.
From the house
We had been through two group classes. Katie spent the first session watching the dog, not talking at us. By week four the door was quiet. That was the whole problem.
She trained me as much as the puppy. The plan was short enough to actually do on a weeknight, which is the only plan that matters.
Our Aussie was herding the children. Katie did not make it cute. She made it stop, and she showed us how to keep it stopped.
